Rick Foster is uniquely prepared to be Orange County’s Assessor, not only because of his extensive experience in the housing and mortgage industries, but because of his work ethic and compassion for those in need.

Rick grew up in Garden Grove and started working at an early age. Throughout his teens he worked at his family’s construction business, became a child actor and has been a proud member of the actor’s union (SAG-AFTRA) for over three decades, and even was a nightwatchman at county fairs across the country. Also as a teenager, Rick was introduced to Democratic Party politics, knocking on doors for a Democratic candidate at 13.
Rick graduated from Rancho Alamitos High School (Class of 1982) and earned a B.A. Political Science from Albertus Magnus College in New Haven, CT.

Rick returned to Orange County and began a successful business career. He has worked in both the finance and mortgage sectors and obtained residential real estate and broker licenses. He founded multiple companies and currently serves as the Founder and Managing Member of Universe Properties LLC, where he works to provide homes for seniors, disabled veterans and battered women transitioning from shelters to housing.

Rick has advocated for the most vulnerable in our society both locally and globally. He founded “You Are Safe Here” which is an international city designation for LGBTQ+ visitors & refugees and led efforts to defend the human rights of LGBTQ+ refugees in Africa, Afghanistan & Cuba.

He has also helped parolees reenter society as a founding partner of Workplace Enterprises and was recently appointed to serve on Orange County’s Development Process Review Board.

His passion for food, travel, wine and history led him to write for Edge Magazine, News Enterprise, Hewes Media, and a syndicated History column about California adobes. Rick Foster currently lives in Seal Beach.
